Samsung seeks redemption with their Galaxy Note 8, after the massive failure of the Galaxy Note 7. The Note 8 is now the first Note model to be released in Europe in about two years, and a lot is expected from the new Note 8.
With that, the Seoul-based firm is not focusing on the PR machine in this model, and is looking to go with better speed instead.
This could also be due to the failure of the Note 7, which caused millions of losses to Samsung, along with a blow to their reputation. Moreover, it could also be the fact that the Note series was not really produced to be a mainstream device like the Samsung S series or the iPhone. Rather, it was made to cater a specialized group of people who prefer powerful phones.
There are no surprising experiments used in the Note 8 as Samsung played safe. The phone is perfectly sized and well-equipped, as it has a familiar tweaked design. The dual-camera is also not surprising, while on the other hand, it might even be a bit overdue.
The specifications of the Galaxy Note 8 include a polished aluminum frame body, with a Gorilla Glass 5 back and front along with IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. The Note 8 also comes with the Midnight Black, Orchid Grey, Deepsea Blue and Maple Gold color schemes.
The ‘Infinity Display’ characterized by the 6.3″ Super AMOLED and 2,960x1440px resolution and also has a 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Along with that, it has a 522ppi along with HDR 10 compliant. The rear camera has a 12MP primary lens with a 1/2.55″ sensor, f/1.7 aperture and a 26mm equiv focal length. The secondary lens is also 12MP, but with 1/3.44″ sensor, f/2.4 aperture and 52mm equiv. focal length. Both cameras feature the dual pixel phase detection along with autofocus and OIS on both, along with 2x zoom and 2160/30fps video recording.
The Note 8 possesses the Android 7.1.1 Nougat along with the Samsung Grace UX and Bixby virtual assistant. It will also have the Smart Connect and Smart Connect Home, while also having a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. The Note 8 uses the octa-core CPU and Adreno 540 GPU along with the Exynos 8895 octa-core CPU and the Mali-G71 GPU.
The phone comes with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage, along with a microSD card that allows the memory to expand up to 256 GB. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 also sports a sealed 3,300mAh Li-Po battery, with adaptive fast charging and WPC (Qi)&PMA wireless charging.
The Note 8 is a single-sim phone but also has dual-sim in some specific markets. The phone also sports a 3.5mm headphone jack with bundled AKG headphones, and Dex dock compatibility which improves the desktop mode.
However, there is no intention to downplay the Galaxy Note 8, which happens to be one of the most versatile phones going around in the market at the moment.
The Note 8 might not be a lot different for other phone users of the Samsung S series and the iPhone, but the Note 8 is an incredibly useful phone for power users, who look out for more power in their phones.
